Mount Gilead's

Articles of Faith

154 Mt. Gilead Rd EST. 1836 Mt. Gilead was constituted in 1836 with nine charter members. Above all, we are thankful for God's abundant blessings all these years. It is obvious that God has led, directed and protected Mt. Gilead that the truth might be preserved and that His name might be honored. "Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it; except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain." (Psalm 127:1) Also, not only are we thankful for our present membership, but for all of those in the past that have labored diligently for Biblical Truth.

Articles of Faith

Announcements and Meeting Times

1. We believe in one true and living God and that there are three persons in the Godhead: Father, Son and Holy Ghost. John 10:30 ; John 1:1-2; 1 John 5:7; 1 Thess. 1:9
2. We believe the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the revealed and inspired Word of God and the only rule of faith and practice, particularly the New Testament for saints under this dispensation. 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21
3. We believe in the doctrine of eternal and particular election. Romans 9:11-13; Ephesians 1:4-5
4. We believe in the doctrine of original sin. Romans 9:11-13; Ephesians 1:4-5
5. We believe in the doctrine of man's inability, by his own free will or ability, to recover himself from the fallen state he is in by nature. Romans 8:7; John 6:44; Ephesians 2:3
6. We believe that sinners are justified in the sight of God only by the imputed righteousness of Christ. Romans 3:24; Romans 4:6-7; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Galatians 2:21
7. We believe that God's elect shall be called, regenerated and sanctified by the Holy Spirit. John 10:27-29; Romans 8:28-39; 2 Timothy 1:9; Titus 3:4-6
8. We believe that the saints are preserved in grace and shall never finally fall away. John 10:27-29; Romans 8:37-39; Hebrews 10:14; 1 Peter 1:4-5; Jude 1:1
9. We believe that baptism and the Lord's Supper are ordinances of Jesus Christ and that feet-washing is an example set forth by Him. True believers are the only subjects for these ordinances and example. We believe that the only scriptural mode of baptism is by immersion. 1 Corinthians 11:24-25; Matthew 26:26-28; Acts 8:38-39; John 13:14
10. We believe in the resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust. The dead in Christ shall rise first. We which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet them in the air. John 5:28-29; Acts 24:15; 1 Corinthians 15:52; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
11. We believe that the joys of the righteous are eternal and that the punishment of the wicked is everlasting. Matthew 25:34-41; Psalms 9:7
